How was Alan's final performance?
Was he terrific?
shareThe best of the cast. He faces more armchair drone queens than Helen Mirren, who but for no opposition is just as fantastic. Rickman is gone WAY too soon.
shareHe and Abdi stole the show. Rickman has a throwaway line or two at the very end of the film after delivering a wonderful little monologue, but the last line of that monologue is the perfect note to end on. He exits his career on a high note.
shareHe was simply wonderful, along with Mirren, Paul and all the rest. Very sad that he had to leave us too soon, but glad his last film was such a good one. The film was dedicated to his memory.
shareHe gave the best performance, I loved seeing him one final time.
Lose the Game!!!!!!!
He was excellent. It really did his whole career justice.
shareHe was fine, I wouldn't say terrific but the role didn't really give him that much to work with. I wish they'd cut out the scene where he's buying a doll for his daughter though, it just felt like lame, forced humour.
shareIt was humorous in the beginning, but as soon as the little girl showed up in the drone view, I knew that doll was going to come back around to the story, and there wasn’t anything funny about it.
I didn’t think it was forced, at worst it was predictable.
I got the impression he was buying the doll for a granddaughter, leaving a phone message to his daughter from 'Dad' then actually talking to her later to clarify the doll type. I think Alan handled the scene just right. Not corny at all, though it could have been. It reinforced the idea of a cherished child in London, and a cherished child in Kenya.
