no promotion this side of the ocean [a little spoiler]

I have not yet watched but it is on my to do soon list.

Helen Mirren is shown as a main player and a Colonel. Helen Mirren [DAME] is about 150 years old surely and still looking good but to suggest that this pensioner is what the Brits are using to control this area of sterile combat is perhaps the biggest no no in the casting. I do understand the theme and the story line which has been used as plot backgrounds in other areas and I am thinking of Madam Secretary, Scandal and I think I remember an incident in the GOOD WIFE. The difficulty of the so called civilised in using this method to prosecute war a major plot in the tales.

In reality what is the difference when we know that the BIG bomb has been used, carpet bombing, and no doubt when covert missions are undertaken MURDER in any other area is a requirement to infiltrate and enemy position. While the human being on the ground will always be in the position that they can suffer as well as any enemy this method using drones is as sterile as is possible. Very few Americans mention the number of French who died as a result of the early stages of the USA coming to rescue and free poor Europe in a single handed here comes the cavalry.

My very personal opinion is that this lets get the bad guys effort started 2003 was not well thought trough and may well have been a totally dishonest led mission exposing many lives to a a danger that was not 'clear or present'. Our use of the drone today may well be to take out those henchmen who were in the Saddam camp and now lead a form of revenge for losing those professions where they kept down the fundamental ideologies so apparent and so deadly today. Maybe using drones to deliberately hit women and children gathering would be more acceptable as in the latest horror story in IRAQ of 200 [estimate] dead. Seen by the locals as more acceptable than taking out a bad guy or two with some collateral damage.

War is most definitely a wrong thing other than as a last resort of self defence. I understand the USA having been so devastatingly damaged on 9/11, but that in no way was the real reason for attacking Iraq. Do remember that when the UK dependency in the Falklands was attacked for no other reason than to garner internal support for Galtieri losing grip of his nation, many in the USA felt it was deserved.

Look forward to viewing Helen in her walking frame commanding a sheltered drone unit.
