one thing I liked about it
Here - this was the next manned stop following the moon landing in 1972. Now at first I thought this made no sense - wouldn't humans land on Mars first? But then I thought well, why not? Let's face it - Mars is almost as boring as the moon (rocks that look like petrified lizards notwithstanding) and would give us no additional science. Here, scientists discovered an anomaly suggesting possible life on Europa, and knew there was a huge ocean under it's ice, so why not just go for broke and get people there? Of course, in real life, it would all be done by probes - a manned mission would be far too dangerous and expensive.
