What are really, truly the best "found tape" films?

Please list your favs. So many to pick from and did you see the one called "Gang Tapes?" Would be interesting to finally decide on a group vote of the best of this genre to equal the "citizen Kane" of comedies/action/submarine/sniper etc Thanks

My favorite "found tape" films are :
#1 District 9 (2009) This is the really best one.
#2 Europa Report (2013) The most underrated one.
#3 Borat (2006)
#4 Chronicle (2012)
#5 As Above, So Below (2014)

You knew I haven't watch many.

I love found footage movies, very specifically the scary ones. the bay is my favorite. they really fixed the why are the people filming problem with the genre. Europa report did that also.

*beep* it, cut'em up!

I would put Lake Mungo and Grave Encounters on that list.

Blair Witch has reinvented the genre "Found Footage", so it still stands as the Citizen Kane of its kind. Before Blair Witch there was only "Faces of Death" and before that "Cannibal Holocaust". Something similar can be said about "Paranormal Activity", which brought the genre back to mainstream 8 years after the initial success of Blair Witch had died down.

Also, there has to be made a distinction between "Found Footage" and "Mockumentary". Oftentimes the mockumentary aspect is part of a found footage movie, but then there are movies that are purely found footage and movies that are purely mockumentaries. Blair Witch for example is part mockumentary, part found footage.

"Borat" is the opposite of Found Footage, it's a classic example of a pure mockumentary. No footage of Borat was lost, so no footage had to be found.

Anyway, here's my top 10:

01. Blair Witch Project
02. Paranormal Activity
03. The 4th Kind
04. Afflicted
05. VHS
06. The Bay
07. Grave Encounters
08. Troll Hunter
09. Chronicle
10. Cloverfield

Agree: Blair Witch Project is the "mother" in this cycle..

As Above, So Below (2014) got me tingeling too.. But the rest nah;-)

Europa Report doesn't count in my book - 'cause it's EXCELLENT SCI-FI! Not just people running/walking around, while scared..
