Anyone else sick of this "found footage" bs?

It went from an interesting gimmick in Blair Witch to a seriously annoying copout to making great cinematography. An film like Cloverfield would be a thousand times better had they just made it a normal film. In here when they do the interviews they come across as totally fake. It works best when they show the surface of Europa and stuff and forget the found footage nonsense.

I also don't like the "found footage" genre. Perhaps it was interesting (or fresh; not good) the first time, but subsequently films using the technique offered nothing new. They were ideas seen before but using a shaky camera work. There is no reason for using "found footage" besides the director wanting to do it. You find me agreeing on Cloverfield. It wasn't a normal film because as said "same ideas using shaky camera."

When this film started playing and found it was of that genre I thought of giving it up. Yet, I saw it and liked it. Mainly because there wasn't so much queasy cam since most of the footage was taken by the ship cameras.

Jupiter looked no more than an artist's impression, so fake. And I pity the person who preferred this over Interstellar. Europa was far from convincing, how could a ship that small accommodate a crew of six and take 'em to Jupiter's moon and return back. Oh please...

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives.

Apples and oranges man. Two very different films.

I disagree. It's just a form. How it is employed determines the quality of the film. Parts felt cheesy in this case such as the post journey narration.

Cloverfield was great from a technical point of view with the DV tape playtime and overdubbing revealing previous footage etc.

reply

I felt like it ruined Cloverfield and that it would have been a great film if not for it.

people say "why squids?"
Of course they are not squids. We haven't seen them. Yeah. I said "we haven't seen them".
What I mean is: If aliens landed on earth humans attack to them with tanks or something. They first saw our weapons. of course. We are not "Tanks".
Then in my opinion, that "squid" thing was the "robot" or some s*** like that. Look at that. (looks like mechanic or something)

reply

No I'm not sick of it. So shut your insignificant little hole.

To answer your topic question - No, I will never be sick of it.

Found Footage has established itself as a movie genre like any other. It is not a gimmick, it is a genre.
You can just as well ask if anyone else is sick of sci-fi / horror / comedy / any other genre / movies.

What you actually mean to say is: Is anyone else sick of badly made Found Footage movies?
