it is just me or is this some really unusual editing and camerawork
ok first off... i kind of like alot of parts of the movie. the acting, the space shots... all interesting. story, interesting. premise, interesting.
but the camera and editing completely threw me off.
there are a lot of cameras that are planted on the set at fixed angles, they felt like fish-eye web cams. when characters were interacting with each other or having an emotional intense moment, i couldnt see it... i couldnt see their faces.... the camera was stuck pointing at a wall or something.
At about 29 minutes in is a perfect example .... the cuts and edits for the few minutes at that point i found very difficult to follow.
now i guess im wondering.... is it "supposed to be like that"? am i supposed to feel disconnected and disoriented or something? is it supposed to be shot in an unusual style for some kind of artistic reason?
and.. can you think of other films that have used a similar approach of completely unusual camera work to convey something?
thanks.
