I'd be ok with a trillion dollars and 50 dead astronauts if it meant knowing if there is life out there.
If we consider the lives lost by Nasa to send men to the moon and walk around collecting rocks, then yeah, it's the price we pay to find life other than ours.
Even if it is just an octopus.
