I can't believe you were the first to give the original a 10. That movie was a MASTERPIECE. :-P
I agree, the original was a 10/10
Sequel, for me, was about a 7. Not great, not crappy, decent callbacks to the nostalgia of my youth. :-P
Honestly, I went into the sequel with high expectations despite seeing the negative reviews. It was pretty bad, the musical numbers were so cringey and the father subplot was bad along with a bunch of the other plots. There really was no need for the daughter/mother drama and they could have dropped a lot of William Dafoes scenes along with the soul train. I dont know, the original is a masterpiece and it is random as fuck with almost no cohesive logic holding the film together. Beetlejuice himself if very violent "not just goofy" and things just happen but somehow it works, while this film had more traditional setups and arcs but it failed to be much more than cringey.
