Boardwalk lost it in series 2.
This looks like it has legs.
They are vastly different so hard to compare but I don't remember looking forward to series 2 of Boardwalk as much as I am of this.
Boardwalk Empire is an extremely elegant and stylized drama with colourful characters and great dramatic storylines, while Gomorra is a very gritty drama that depicts reality as it is. It's more similar to The Wire than Boardwalk. It's even more depressing than Wire, actually, because it really doesn't have a single likeable Robin Hood anti-hero character like Omar. However, contrary to the movie of the same name Gomorra has absolutely high quality directing, storytelling and gripping characters who really get you involved with the action. If you appreciate Boardwalk Empire and high quality television, you will certainly appreciate Gomorra, too.

I loved Boardwalk except for the last season. It was probably my favourite show for a good while. This is much different, less glamour, but it has a very real feel to it. So it's kind of hard to compare the two shows but I thing Gomorrah is the best new show of 2014 and well worth a watch

shareIv just finished watching the first season of Gomorrah and your right there very different. I loved the dark and gritty setting of Gomorrah just as much as the more high budget Boardwalk Empire. There both top shows but in a very different way.

shareThis is better than Boardwalk Empire. Don't get me wrong, I wanted to like Boardwalk Empire a lot but the writing seemed to get worse and worse with every episode. The first few seasons were good though.
