How did Genny get so slim, stylish and boss-like?
What really happened in South America? How did Genny get so slim, stylish and boss-like when he returns?

shareI do wish they had shown some of his development, because to us it just looks like he became a gangster in 2 episodes. It must just be the mohawk
sharethe mohawk Genny is sporting, is the hairstyle worn by Napoli's star player, Hamsik. A lot of Italian youth wear it, especially ones that want to look tough.
shareHe was forced too hack a man too death. I'm pretty sure doing something like that will change your out look on life ergo your swagger and confidence
shareI guess they will make scenes of his stay in South America in season 2. Lets hope coz it would be interesting to watch.
shareI agree. He went from a fat, inexperienced mama's boy to a tough guy. They rushed his role and he was too unbelievable.
Who cares if he hacked a man to death? Some people could have become psychotic, but that does not mean they automatically gain business sense.
He was in Honduras for months. Hacking the american guy to death was not the only thing he did there.
La commedia è finita!
Exactly! It is said, or at least implied that he stayed 3 or 4 months in Honduras, he was tortured - because the drug money wasn't sent by Lady Imma - and he was forced to kill a man who, like him, was being tortured. That ought to made an impact on Gennaro.
Just because he missed like two episodes, it doesn't mean he spent two days away from home. The episodes aren't daily, therefore, an amount of time can pass between episodes.

Here's the thing as already mentioned, because he hacked a guy up and got tortured, it makes it better with the ladies?
The experience also turned him into a guy that now wants to dabble in politics? They tortured him in Honduras, but also school him in the way of politics and making business connections?
From what we were shown of him before, I would bet being tortured and hacking a guy up would more likely give him severe PTSD and shut him down. The dude was scared sht!tless on the raid against the black guys. There is not a single scene in the entire series where it shows him doing any big moves for the family business but now he is a machine?
Being a prisoner would make him learn the harsh reality of the world..but him being him...I think the change in personality was too big. We are talking about Oliver Queen type change here in a fraction of the time.
The mom sent him there to learn negotiation...without first learning negotiation at a smaller level? We see Ciro's skill in negotiating with other bosses and if he was thrown into Honduras, no doubt he would come out with a deal. But Genny getting thrown into such a deep pool? I can't see it happening.
Either they need to give more background in season 2 or this whole change just stinks.
It's always debatable, but facing such a situation, could damage him permanently, or simply turn him into a new, more aware and confident man. Again, it's a more than enough time span that passes, since he was sent by his mother to make the deal, and tuns into a physically and psychologically nightmare. As far as I'm concerned, the "simple" act of killing a may have "unlocked" his potential, so to speak. It can definitely be a life changing situation.
Bodies and minds vary from one person to the other, therefore, it is pretty much impossible to give an accurate reason regarding why he now acts the way he does rather than most likely killing himself while he was being held against his will in the Honduras.
His mother was tired of him and his soft ass attitude. She hardly recognized him as a son and true heir to the Savastano empire. Why not send him to deal with the Hondurans? He was an important family figure (the son of the Boss), was most likely escorted with some muscle and people capable of offering dealing tips for the family's sake, so it's not that hard to buy. Worst case scenario he earns a lesson through tough love. If this was her plan, it backfired big time.

Not sure why you think he gained business sense? On the contrary, the point is that he has no business sense which is why he *beep* everything up
shareI disagree! The first episodes of the new season have already shown how much smarter he's gotten. All of his suggestions to his father in ep 2 made him appear so much wiser than his old man already..
shareBut he didn't gain any business sense at all. He kept making mistakes and crapping everything up, starting the war which he lost. He certainly became far more ruthless and the must be down to discovering something in himself which was forced at brutally when he was made to hack someone else to death. Call it a survival instinct. He came back full of anger because he knew he had been regarded as expendable, and he found a viciousness which was there all along. But he didn't at first have his father's brain or calculation, though he does slowly acquire it. After all it is his caution which saves his father's life in Cologne.
shareHe had to get down and dirty.
His father was capable, his mother too. The genes were his. He just needed a jolt to wake up from his sheltered existence. The leader was always there.
He obviously always had business sense, but couldn't be bothered with the family business, he just wanted to hang with his friends.
shareI just finished season 1 and thoroughly enjoyed it. This part however did not make sense to me. Being tortured and forced to chop a guy into pieces could have turned Genny into a heartless *beep* I'll buy that, but how does it give him leadership skills? I guess there's more to it, but now it's just 'Genny goes to Hunduras a wuss, he returns and presto! he's a proper boss.' Leaves too many question marks.
shareI think the point here is that Genny doesn't have any leadership skills. Sure, he's "the leader", but he is pretty useless at it. He came back all tough and moody, but has completely messed things up and caused massive divisions. Where are the true leadership qualities in that?

Eagarly awaiting the first two episodes to release lol currently rewatching the entire first season because it's unrivaled
shareEpisode 2 is completely Genny-centric and we get to see how the relationship with his father evolves. I loved it, cause even tho there wasn't that much action in the episode I think it was necessary for us to understand how much Genny has actually grown and how.
