Little depressed.

I know it's early days but only a 5.7 star rating, that's low.

I thought this might be a critically acclaimed turn from Sheen after all his bad press that he's just the kind of guy who plays caricatures of himself and cashes bloated paychecks as a result.

This was the film I thought would prove the critics wrong and remind us of some of his early performances in great movies (Platoon, No Man's Land, Wall Street)

Not to mention the great cast; Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Dermot Mulroney and Patricia Arquette.

As for the director, Roman's got potential, he's only done one other feature but has been involved with many successful projects, mainly his sister Sofia's and a lot of Wes Anderson's work. This also gives the indication that Wes (who is fantastic with these kind of films) might of been a watchful eye on this project and no doubt daddy Coppola had a thing or two to say about the project. So with this kind of input I thought it was sure to be a success.

Furthermore I really like the premise, the early pictures look great and I love the 1970's setting, just waiting for somebody to post a review about it, hope it turns out to be good and gets a positive reception.

Looking forward to seeing it!

I wouldn't be surprised if that 5.7 ratio is based on many people who haven't even seen it yet.

Hopefully your right, I mean the trailers only just come out, maybe people have taken a instant dislike.

Just watched the trailer recently, don't know if you've seen it, but I must say it does look good, I'm not one of these guys who loves Sheen for his antics (as amusing as they are) I really love him as an actor, and this project just looks great, it'll be really good for him.

So much talent involved, love the director, the cast, the setting. Really excited it's so Wes Anderson its unbelievable.

Just wondering if Charlie's going to keep doing movies now he's back on a sit-com again, when he was on Two and a half men the films really dried up for almost a decade after the Big Bounce in 2004, nothing really accept TV work and cameos normally playing an eccentric version of himself.

Really hope he keeps up the film roles too, we've got Machete 2 to look forward too soon!

Here are a couple reviews from the Rome Film Festival. They aren't bad but aren't amazing either. So far the general consensus seems to be that it delivers some fun and original elements but is a little too all over the place and lacks a strong enough narrative and characters to make it truly engaging. The reception so far seems similar to Roman's other solo effort CQ.
