Murray does this but not Ghostbusters III?
What a waste!
shareI was going to post the same thing.
He's "choosey" about scripts, and then is in this ? WTF ?
To me it seems he's not that choosey with regards to a specific script's content; he seems to be more choosey when it comes to the overall genre of movie recently. By that I mean he appears in a lot of indie type "comedies" (very liberal use of the word) or serious roles, just check out his IMDB page for proof. He hasn't done an actual all-out comedy since Garfield in the early 2000's, and before that nothing since the late 90's. Maybe Garfield scared him off haha. Either way, Ghostbusters III does not fit in with his career goals but these stupid indie flicks he apparently cannot turn down seem to for some odd reason.
shareI remember he was supposed to be in Noah Baumbach's The Squid & The Whale but eventually had to pull out. Since Baumbach and Roman Coppola both worked with Wes Anderson I'm guessing that he's just more likely to do favors for people he's worked with, as opposed to reading a bunch of scripts and picking one at random. Plus he worked with Sofia Coppola so there's that connection as well.
So I wouldn't read anything into this other than Roman Coppola got on Murray's good side enough to squeeze a cameo out of him
I'm sure this is something he did as a favor more than anything. There's no way he wanted to be in this piece of garbage based on the script alone. Plus you're comparing a couple days on a set to a big blockbuster like Ghostbusters 3
