How can someone make the 60's and 70's film era sound so boring?

I was excited to watch the 60 and 70's episode because I thought things might speed up a bit and cover some more intense content and directors, after all this is the exploitation era. But alas the narrator finds ways to make every sentence sound the same and painfully boring. Lots of constant long shots of the city and the same directors being talked about over and over. A lot of wasted time. I had a couple more episodes on my dvr but after watching episode 1 and this one, I'm done, this dude is putting me to sleep. I'd recommend the documentary "Easy Riders and Raging Bulls", its far superior, in terms of this time period.

It's narration in 4/4 time. One-two-three-FOUR, One-two-three-FOUR, One-two-three-FOUR. They could use this guy at Guantanamo Bay instead of water boarding.

I can't stand that often he'll feature some talking heads clips, but he's droning on while that person is talking which defeats the purpose of showing the clip. But he lets Paul Schrader ramble on, gasping and wheezing and making one wonder how someone at such a loss for words can write such incredible scripts.

I was also looking forward to this particular chapter in terms of content, but once again my enthusiasm for the subject was deflated by the presentation. For someone claiming that this is supposedly the uncharted or barely covered voyage through film history, he sure spent the time on the usual suspects last night - other than Charles Burnett.
