Oscar Isaacs/llewyn Davies rendition of Fare thee well
Was way better than the one the Mumford guy/Oscar sang o. The soundtrack.
Thoughts?
Do I have to give it to you?

Yeah, I like both, but I definetly agree with you here. I think it partially depends on taste and how folky one likes their music.
shareThey're different, but I like them both. I would also give the slight edge to his solo rendition as it has a bit of a blues edge to it and I dig that. The whole soundtrack is pretty great though. I've been listening to it on my drive to and from work all week and I sing along with pretty much every song.
The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those that speak it.
Yes totally. Oscar is quite a singer (and probably well recorded too). The version of Queen Jane in the movie is off the charts good too...better than the soundtrack version.
I listened to one or two of the original versions of some of these songs and even preferred Oscars take.
The Mumford/Isaac version is in the film as well (I think we hear it while Llewyn walks with the cat). It's supposed to be the version Llewyn recorded with Mike (his deceased partner).
I agree that the solo version is better but it also makes sense in the context of the film. The duet version is just another piece of folk music, good enough to deserve a record. That scene at the end is really something else. Llewyn sings it as a farewell and depending on your mood/your reaction to Llewyn/what touched you the most you can hear anger, resolve, challenge or grief in his voice. It really is an incredible piece of acting and cinematography as well as a tremendous interpretation of the song.
I loved the Mumford and sons guy one but i wish you could hear Oscar more :/
