The songs get inside your head.......

OK, so I finally got around to watching this movie. I know, I know. It's been on my list forever and now with the explosion of Oscar Isaac hotness everywhere (loved him in "Show me a Hero") in "Star Wars" and all, I watched it. I'm not a huge fan of folk music, but I do love the Coen Brothers. When the movie started with a folk song, I was like, OK, I'm going to be open-minded and just let the movie flow. I've watched the movie twice now and I can't get the songs out of my head! I loved them! My favorite is the "Fare Thee Well" duo and I just love the sequence in the movie where that song plays and Llewyn is running around NY with that cat. The movie is very beautifully filmed as well, with the shadows and muted grays. It's a quiet little gem--not the typical Coen Brother's movie. It did have their signature touches, however, with repeated dialogue ("OK" and "uh-huh" used quite a bit throughout), John Goodman, of course, and the combination of mopey/silly at times. Right now, "The Death of Queen Jane" is running through my head as I write this. So, give this movie a try. I think you'll like it.

I agree totally !! I had this on in my bedroom while I was getting ready to head to the VA Hospital . On my way there , I was singing - " Lord I'm one - Lord I'm 2- Lord I'm 3 - Lord I'm 4 ".... ( you know - the 100 miles song ) . ( I brought my dog with me to keep me company and he jumped in the backseat cause I think I was freaking him out ). And on my way home I was in a much better mood and started singing " Please Mr. Kennedy - UH-OHHHH-".... Well for some reason my dog didn't mind that . He was wagging his tail looking out the window the entire time . --- Was a fun little trip and I just thought I'd share since you brought up the songs being stuck in your head .

I'm not big into the folk scene as well, or never considered myself to be, but I agree as well. These songs are really catchy and kind of stick to you (much like the movie does in my opinion). I have several of them downloaded and listen to a variety of them quite a lot. I find myself just walking around going, "when I go back to Baltimore..." haha. I was told to stop once because I had sung it so much without realizing and was annoying someone else with it 

Queen Jane is a good one. It's so tragically beautiful, and Oscar performs it as such as well. I love that song, even if it's a downer. Perhaps I'm more a folk person than I thought I'd be, or maybe I just love this movie.

Completely agree - I think "500 Miles" is the most beautiful thing I've heard in years.
