Terrific Movie

There's something about the Coens' films... They're always well-made and interesting. But, I always find there's also something off-putting about them... That was the case here... It was initially failing to engage my interest and I was only sticking with it because the songs are so excellent... I did eventually get interested. But, while Oscar Isaac is a good enough actor to make you think Llewyn isn't an entirely awful person - his reaction to running over the cat, etc. - his nasty outbursts very much put me off... And, the end - the suggestion that more or less exactly the same cycle was beginning again - made everything that had gone before seem pointless and was really quite depressing... Excellent performances, quite atmospheric, I loved the songs and, I must admit, it is hanging about in my thoughts. But, ultimately, a little disappointing.
