Cotton's Fate. !st Movie Spolers

I'm still trying to figure that out, too, because I felt there was some far more sinister going on in the first film that doesn't get discussed very much. Why was Cotton specifically summoned in the first place? Its as if he was selected by the cult but what was their purpose in killing him? The cult could have chosen many others but why Cotton?

As for your post, I don't think Cotton was successful at all because the girl still fulfilled her purpose. Don't forget she became a mother in the first one. To add to your question, where is her child?

Cotton was not successful. He dies in the fire blast caused by the sacrifice of Nell's baby and the rest of his crew are also killed. Their deaths are in fact predicted and drawn by Nell earlier in the film.
