Why did my theater only show like a 60 second version of the trailer?

I want to go into this movie blind but yesterday when I saw Django Unchained (AWESOME MOVIE BY THE WAY, A MUST SEE) they showed a trailer during the commercials before the trailers if you know what I mean. Apparently the trailer is 2 minutes and 32 seconds long, but the one I saw only seemed like a minute. What I saw was a guy who kept telling her that 'he' has plans for her then she got down a table and went all ape *beep* But the IMDB thumbnail wasn't in what I saw. Why would they do this? Why not just show the full trailer? Or was that the full trailer?

They did this when I saw Seven Psychopaths, showing a condensed version of the Texas Chainsaw 3D trailer. I guess it's just to give you a little taste of the trailer, while not scaring those faint-hearted folk in the audience who are just at the cinema for a western/comedy/whatever.

They did this when I went to see Gangster Squad on Friday. After the last Regals First Look segement, they showed a shorter trailer for this out of the blue. I thought it was a little strange to show it instead of just the actual trailer.

They also did a similar thing when I saw The Expendables 2, they showed a 60 second trailer for The Posession after the last trailer right before the movie started.

I count six shots.
