Why do people call the possession of Nell a hoax?

At first you question it, but later on she snaps her own neck, you hear demon voices, and then this famous shot:

AND her voice was diffierient in the barn, and yet some people STILL come to the conclusion she was never possessed? Wow, people these days

Not to mention the glimpse we get of her "child" at the film's end, right? As to your question... hey, there's no shortage of folks who believe that the Moon landings were a hoax and that the 9/11 passengers are still alive and being held in confinement somewhere.
