Why didn't this get a wide release?

I think it could have done well if it was advertised harder and got a wide release with at least a 1,000+ plus theatres at least. Keira Knightley is hot and she's a star and Chloe Grace Moretz is a big hit with teenage girls and creepy old men so I think the movie could've done well, but instead it did pretty lackluster at the box office.

The movie was fantastic. Loved it, but never saw a single preview or commercial for it. Just stumbled onto it because Keira Knightly mentioned in an interview.

Worst marketing job of all time. Someone flushed this movie before it even had a shot.

Literally all the definitions of an indie. It never ceases to madden me how little indies are appreciated, but there you go. If it means the general public can discover little known gems now and again, it's worth it.

Agreed. Hollywood would rather hit the 600 Foot home-run ($200 mil budget movies) than hit a bunch of singles. People would go see movies like this if they knew about them. But Hollywood is too stupid to realize that.

What's wrong with a $5 million dollar movie making $20 mil at the box office? Why does it have to be 100 million dollar movies making 200 million?

I agree, it is a lot better then a lot of films that we see everywhere.

Perhaps the test audience not liking the movie was the final straw.
