Ending ruined the movie.
Instead of going back to the father, she should of just moved on. Didn't even make sense for him to give her a second chance.
shareShe cheated on the fiancé, not the father.. he was just lied to about her true relationship status but never are we to believe she has sexual relations with the fiancé when she goes back to him nor did she see him during her stay with the lawyer so she was pretty faithful in that aspect. So I'm not sure that she didn't earn a second chance! however the fiancé got the bad end of the stick, poor guy never saw it coming!!! His ending was sad.

It wasn't only the ending that ruined the movie, the movie's central character (Knightley) lies to her long-term boyfriend, her old friends as well as her new friends, plus gives Annika advice at the prom that disregards the feelings of another girl (and she's supposed to have a degree in counseling?). Junior took someone else to the prom then just dumps her when Annika makes her move. The film espouses the view that it's okay to screw over people to get what you want.
A shallow and unlikable film. Too bad because Sam Rockwell is one of my favourite actors.

Glad I wasn't the only one who felt this way when the film was over. The girl at the prom...Kiera's boyfriend... But we're suppossed to feel good because the central characters got what they wanted in the end? I think not. share

Someone - male or female - who cheats on someone to be with you, will themselves eventually cheat on you, too. Yet tons of people continue to get into relationships with them then get shocked when what they did to someone else ends up happening to them.
I have a sibling who is encountering this right now.
