Does anyone else who saw this film think that this was much more of a PG-13 film? An R rating seems ridiculous.

Amazon really is crap when it comes to raties. You cannot buy nc-17 streaming films. They are the same as blockbuster used to be and for that matter, all of the amc, loews, etc. Theters. They won't show nc-17 filnd. Even Netflix does! Give me a break. I agree with you. It could EASILY have been rated pg oeriod.

It is ridiculous, but a few f-bombs are enough for an R Rating in the US.
shareIn Germany the movie has a Rating of ab 6, essentially PG.
But in my country Strong Language does not factor into the ratings at all, so that must be it.
I'm from Germany, too. I'm glad it's that way here, because children don't get traumatized by strong language, while they might by violence.

shareThat's not the reason. Almost all movies released in Germany are dubbed, but strong language isn't a big deal here, at least not as much as in the US. You could say things like *beep* or *beep* in a movie, and it still can get an "age 12" rating.
shareThe MPAA needs to rethink their rules. A movie that has a few f words, but is otherwise pretty tame should not be rated R.
