The ridiculous wedding dance

I haven't attended a wedding in years. Is this a current trend--instead of a
sweet romantic slow first dance between the newlywed husband and wife, the couple
puts on some kind of interpretive dance for the guests? Has anyone been to a real wedding where this kind of display took place? Is this another obnoxious wedding
tradition, like the couple's smashing the wedding cake in each other's faces and that trashy
bride's garter stunt?

I'm not crying, you fool, I'm laughing!

I'm in my late 20s and yeah, some weddings, people do a prepared dance, or just a traditional slow dance. And every wedding I've been to does the "trashy" garter stunt. It's all in good fun. No one really pushes cake into anyones face. In case you're curious, photoboots are common standard now too.

I know if I was at a reception where alcohol is served I would not be able to stop laughing at that dance. Particularly if some of my cronies were there.

I think this scene was mainly for comedic effect.

I've worked over 400 weddings. No one has ever done anything that ridiculous

I thought that scene was hilarious. They do some pretty silly things at weddings, haven't seen that one yet but smashing the pieces of wedding cake into each other's faces, I'm not crazy about that one, or trashing the wedding dress.
