There's been little or no news, No tv spots and no trailers. The film is due for release in a little over 2 months. Is this going straight to DVD? If the studio had faith in this wouldn't there have been alot more material promoting the film by now?

Hannibal Pictures most expensive film was Tokarev at $ 21 mill and it was a huge bomb. I love Cage but this is film full of has beens.
I am deeply confused by the treatment of this movie... It's a fundamentally good story, Cage and Sizemore can be decent actors, and a Memorial Day _Weekend_ release would make sense... so why the limited release on the 30th? Are they that scared of X-Men? Is the production that weak?
I wouldn't believe this was possible until I saw (the beginning of) Left Behind... a movie with lower production quality than a half-hour basic cable home improvement show.
Some great movies have been done on low budgets without any big-name actors. I hope this doesn't suck but something is really wrong here.
Oah c'mon man Cage isn't a has been yet. He's still A-list (Though God knows why) lower bottom of the A list but still there. There are legitimate crack smoking directors willing to make a film around him in lead.

My expectations have gone down quite a bit. This event has great potential for a blockbuster movie. If this has purely been greenlit to put out a film because of a promised low budget, hoping cage will make them some money it's a big shame. Quints' Indianapolis speech in jaws never failed to make me want to see this as it's own film.

I'm going to try to watch this movie no matter how it's distributed. It sounds and looks like an important American historical event that should be seen and experienced. Limited release would suggest that it would be show in some movie theaters at least.

shareI live in Mobile, Alabama where this movie was film. Our local news station said that the producers and distributors were going to push back the release date in order to show the movie at Cannes and other film festivals. Their hope is to release the film closer to the date when USS Indianapolis went down, July 31. They showed the trailer and it looks like an average Nicolas Cage summer movie not produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.
It could have been a much better movie and been a tribute to the men who lost their lives if they hadn't used Nicolas Cage as the lead character. He no longer has the clout in Hollywood that he once did. Of late, he seems to do every script that crosses his agents desk. He was not very nice to the locals here and was a royal pain in the butt. God, I hope he doesn't try to do an accent again.
July 31 has past.

shareJust saw the trailer on youtube. Ugh bloody hell the movie looks awful. This was the biggest naval disaster in history, not to mention the historic point of the Indianapolis, and they really made the movie look like an atrocious Michael Bay film.
Go read the book "In Harm's Way" by Doug Stanton. It was phenomenal and probably a thousand time better retelling of this story than this crappy looking movie.
((Damn the remakes, Save the originals.))
This movie is pure crap. Cheaply produced and inaccurate, it suffers from poor acting and a badly written script. Anyone, who thinks this is what life was like aboard The USS Indianapolis, much less, any US Navy ship during the second world war has no clue. Avoid this piece of garbage at all costs.
