The ghosts from Mama or Crimson Peak??

I see the similarities in the way Del Toro used in Crimson Peak to the way mama was made to look in "Mama". I know Del Toro did not direct or write "Mama" but had a hand in the film and the creation of what mama would look like and appear to the audience. The very creepy and distorted way that she moves was very scary and required no blood or gore for "Mama".
I think because of the audiences reactions and the creepy and scary way in which mama moved and was designed that Del Toro used the ghosts of "Crimson Peak " to look and have the same desired effect that it did in "Mama".
Either way I enjoyed both but Mama was a bit more scarier and the tension that mama created in the viewer really scarred the hell out of people. I know it did for me lol.
Does anybody else see the similarities to the ghosts in both films , and do you think because of the way it worked in "Mama" that Del Toro put it in his directed film "Crimson Peak " ???

THERES NO ROOM IN MY CIRCUS TENT FOR YOU !!!!

Mama for damn sure

We crash into each other, just so we can feel something.

I agree, he model the ghost in Crimson Peak off the ghost in Mama. It's very unique and stands out. Visually Crimson Peak was better, Mama had the better story.

Agreed Crimson Peak was a beautiful movie-costumes/settings/actors.

(I prefer the pale man from Pan's Labyrinth to both though-scary!)

I dreamt of a roaring river and a woman that was a fish. Dead she drifted, with red tears...

There are similarities between the two (mostly in the distorted way they moved that you mentioned, although there are differences even there), but I don't necessarily think it's fair to call one better than the other. While they added an essence of suspension, the ghosts weren't supposed to be scary in Crimson Peak, and they were benevolent messengers for the most part. They served as warnings and guides to Edith. Unlike the ghosts of Crimson Peak, Mama was a prominent character with a substantial amount of background as she is the antagonist. It makes sense for her to have a more developed form that reflects who she is compared to Crimson Peak where they're are all bare bones with a couple identifiable traits.

TLDR: They are only somewhat similar and I think the ghosts in each suited the movies.

The "mama" ghost in Crimson Peak was very CGI and cartoonish-looking to me.
But the "mama" ghost in the movie "MAMA" was scarier to me because even though the director chose to use CGI also, the "mama" was more, (as mpboylanjr-54038 said), distorted and creepy, especially when it moved. Brrrrrr..........
