"Politically Neutral" in 2024 is flat-out evil. I have room for forgiveness towards the MAGA Kookaid drinkers and the far-left dumb college kids, but pretending like anything about moderate politics is wildly bizarre.

You're not neutral. You just don't care.

That second sentence seems to miss something. Nothing wrong with being politically moderate btw. The world needs more people who are willing to scrutinize the extremes of both the left and the right.

not sure it wins best picture , the academy doesn't really like Netflix, they prefer non webfilms

Important to keep in mind.

And it's not American. And it's not predominantly in English. These two things almost always go against a film at the Oscars.

It's also now attracting quite a lot of opprobrium from Mexicans, so much so that the director has felt the need to apologise to the country.

All in all, despite its Golden Globes win (which is often an indicator of how the Academy will vote), I'll be very surprised if it gets the big award.

I really think the odds are in Anora's favor to win BP. Or the Brutalist.

Yeah. I think you're probably right. My hunch is that despite its 13 nominations, Emilia Perez will only come away with a couple of awards, maybe in the minor categories no-one cares about: sound editing, that sort of thing. I just can't see it sweeping up. And I can't see it winning any of the major awards either.

Might be wrong. We'll see. But, yup, my guess would be Anora or The Brutalist for Best Picture too.
