I like movies that have morals/ lessons. I read a review which stated that this movie is about how we shouldn't attempt to contact the dead. If that's the main takeaway of this movie, then I've watched countless like it...
But if there's more to be gleaned from it - if there is some other profound lesson or lessons to be learnt - then I will watch it.
Will I be missing out on something if I do not watch this movie?
A little late with the response but I've just seen it.
I liked it, not so much as a horror film, but just as a decent story with solid characters and decent acting. I thought the main character, Ethan, was a particularly fine person and I loved the way he took over caring for his younger brother and sister when his parents were killed.
If you want a really scary movie, this is not for you but if you'll accept a little less scares and just a good story, this is not bad.
