Does this show find its footing?

I was recommended this show and I am about 4 episodes in to season 1. While it’s good - it’s not what I would call great. It’s a bit cheesy. Right now it reminds me of something I’d see on The CW…but with graphic sex and violence.

reply

yes, but the graphic sex and violence continues.

reply

Excellent. That’s enough to keep me watching then.

reply

Banshee found its footing from Day 1. If you are not engaged by episode 3, then you are not the target audience.

I have never had ONE PERSON to whom I to whom I recommended Banshee not only thank me, but thank me profusely.

reply

I didn’t say it was bad and I’m not going to abandon it. I’m engaged enough. But I sure as hell wouldn’t thank anyone “profusely” for exposing it to me either 😂

It just has that heavy mid-2000’s “renegade” vibe (obviously) that makes it feel dated. I was curious if that dissipates over time. Maybe I’ll just get used to it.

reply

If you see no difference between Banshee and the Lorenzo Lamas vehicle, Renegade, you’re not the target audience. I stand by my “profuse” statement.

reply

Yeah, well - I ended up dumping it. I found it all a bit silly - but I really really tried, though. I guess there's no accounting for taste. I do love Antony as Homelander. He should be swimming in Emmy's for that role.

P.S. I didn't literally mean the show "Renegade". I just meant that was a popular theme in the mid 2000's.

reply

Your loss. That show was great.

reply

I'd have to actually miss it to experience the loss. After 2 and a half seasons....I couldn't care less about any of the people in the show.

reply

Eh. I feel the same about The Boys. I dropped that shit show after a couple of episodes.

reply

I dropped The Boys too. I just couldn't get into it.

reply

It’s not for everyone that’s for sure.
