Would you have shown up without guns? And why are gangs so stupid in movies? (Spoilers)

The stupidity makes you roll your eyes. Of course they need these stupid decisions by the characters in order to keep the moving rolling. And like in all gangster flicks, whether it's yakuza or American gang movies like Boys in The hood, it's amazing how after one gang puts a hit on another, they go on with their lives oblivious to the fact that there will be retaliation. LOL! After shooting Ricky Baker, the the bloods go and have burgers and fries in the open in the middle of the night, exposing themselves to be shot down by Doughboy. After killing the head of the Shiromatsu family. The Seizu boys continues to party at clubs and brothers, exposing themselves to the retaliation of Jared Leto and his Shiromatsu family. Wouldn't you expect retaliation? Wouldn't you hunker down and be on high alert? Nah, in all movies, they all get caught with their pants down and acting surprised by the attack. LOL!

Having said that, I enjoyed the movie. I enjoy epic/period movies because it's the closest thing you can get to time traveling.

I love it! 😎

Especially as most of us who have seen a few gangster movies know that something bad is going to happen... the anticipation is thrilling πŸ˜‰

I think it harkens back to the times when men had to abide by fuedal codes of 'honor' and respect, before the modern state... It makes sense as these lawless men are outside of the normal rules of society...

Just sat through this movie again. Had another thought, came here to type my question and found this thread started by me 3 yrs ago, which I do not remember. LOL! Anyway, at the end, why did the rival gang let Jared Leto and all the leftover dudes live? The guy who betrayed them also gave Leto a choice to leave the girl, if he stays, her safety cannot be guaranteed. He was always jealous, he wanted the girl for himself. Why not just kill Leto and whatever's left of that gang? it must be some code of honor you're referring to. I don't understand how they let them live, which backfired because Leto then goes barging into enemy headquarters and kills the traitor in front of their leader. The head honcho of this territory, again, lets Leto walk. More honor code or something.
