Are you kidding me? Absolutely terrible

Lurker for 10+ years. Made this account to post this after reading the utter *beep* hyping this up.

Now I've seen plenty of excrement in my life when it comes to films and this rightly belongs in the hallowed halls of visual excreta. It's not because it is that BAAD. Sure there were a couple of jumpscares and thrills here and there and the acting wasn't THAAAAT BAAD.

But what pisses me off so damn much is the amount of paid promotion that has went into hyping this turd. Take a look at its Wikipedia page.

I mean what the *beep*? Anyone who's not a friend of the director or cast members go see this and tell me honestly if it is as anywhere remotely worth the praise that has been showered on it. "Amazing creature effects?" What the *beep*?

I've no words. I could switch on critic mode but it isn't worth it.

Let's face it, this film is nothing but the director/writer's dark DMT/LSD trip shoved deep into our throats. But it is UNHOLY to milk your audiences thus.

Good premise, average acting but goddamn what an utterly retarded plot. Perhaps you ran out of budget, sure release it anyway. But, for the love of god, stop hyping it up and asking yer mum, pop and cousin Dave to post reviews.

Stay far away from this weary travellers

Dang palefolklore, you REALLY didn't like this film! I'm just curious where you're seeing all of the positive "hype" from?

What drew me to it, from what I've heard, was that it was a "new take" on the Movie - "From Beyond." I was also getting into a found footage mood for a month or two there, and even though it's NOT found footage, I can see why it could be considered that. I was also well aware that this was a DIRECT TO VIDEO MOVIE - So I had no expectations going into this.

Based on those premises, that interested me in Banshee Chapter. The DMT/CIA experiment angle, I thought was an interesting take on From Beyond, honestly. I also liked the "Numbered Stations" idea, though it never REALLY made sense to me how that played into the plot. I just thought it was cool!

Based on all of that, I really liked this movie. I like it in SPITE of all the Formula trash that's seemingly everywhere in movies.

All that being said palefolklore, I'm unsure why you'd bother spending the time criticizing this film. Direct to video/1 reasonably well known actor/B flick that it is... hell, I hope they make a sequel (they won't, but, oh well!)

IMDB - Because some Trolls need more than just a bridge
