I've done it a number of times. It's an intense hallucinogen but its short-acting (like a half hour tops) and I've never witnessed anyone doing anything other than laying there and, well, tripping, while on it. It's so intense in fact that you can't do much else.

Also did anyone notice the blatantly ripped off kind-of-sounds-like "Bela Lugosi's Dead" at 35 minutes in? It's the same song with a slightly slower drum beat and the descending chords being changed to ascending. They even used the same weird plucking-sounding noises in the background.

What a lovely way to burn...

Pretty sure the DMT you've taken has been synthetic and NOT harvested from human brains. Also, the DMT was in the movie was changed with the molecular compound that was being broadcast on the short wave radio. Oh yeah...there is also that one thing called: this is just a movie. There is such a thing as a bad trip, too by the by.

I'm aware you posted this over 2 years ago now, but just so everyone knows... the DMT that college kids have been getting (IN REAL LIFE) is not "synthetic". Good luck making that artificially. Im not chemist but im pretty sure that is close to impossible. From what my buddies have told me... they got it off of some website, which extracts it from some frog's brain. A certain species native to Brazil. And yes ill admit- when we were hanging out and my best friends cousin *one of those kids that always has some random drug* pulled it out- I was the one who pussied out. I did however, watch over 3 or 4 of my friends after doing it (they sprinkled it over their individual bong packs, and it was a grayish powder), they did not bug out. It was sunny out, we were barbecuing- and longboarding. they were definitely tripping though. One of them got really quiet- but said he was fine. They said I was the best one to "monitor" cuz Im not judgemental.. lol. Oh the things you learn at college. But yea.. food for thought. This film wasnt that accurate.

Good movies are not like this. If you want drugs, try Enter the Void, A Field in England, or Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Conspiracy stuff? Watch Z or Silkwood or They Live :-) If you want Lovecraftian horror, maybe In the Mouth of Madness or The Call of Cthulhu or even From Beyond (yes, even From Beyond is not as bad as this movie).

Banshee Chapter takes many different, interesting topics and messes up each of them individually, but the resulting mishmash is even worse than the sum of its parts. Save yourselves while you still can!

Of those, I've seen Enter the Void, Fear and Loathing, They Live, In The Mouth of Madness, The Call of Cthulhu, and From Beyond. They're all good films, but such 'safe' choices, films that anybody interested in film already knows about. Also, a lot of your choices are art films and can be a little boring to sit through for some people. None of those films are even scary. It's just not a good comparison.

Anyways, that said, I might check out the three titles you mentioned which I haven't seen. Thanks :)

Is this movie designed to discourage people from trying DMT,

Well like someone else said they it wasn't normal dmt in the movie...but real dmt does infact cause similar hallucinations in people. Feelings of being watched, being transported someplace else and seeing entities that are trying to communicate with them. Though most people feel the entities they see are friendly. They took that idea and expanded on it and made it into a horror movie.

Also in the movie they drank it...consuming dmt or ayuhuasca lasts a really long time.

I noticed that it sounded so similar to Bela Lugosi's Dead and I thought it was at first until I noticed a difference. I tried to find the song but it isn't released on the soundtrack (apparently by some dude named Philip Quinaz but those songs were not included in the released soundtrack for some reason).

Indeed, it's not a regular hallucinogen where you are in awe of things around you and want to explore, it is a personal experience, you can't really move and for 5 mins you're not even in the same place, so no, it is not useful for interrogation, super soldiers or anything of the sort. But it is a miracle chemical, and one of the most important ones found in our bodies. If you want a longer experience, take a MAOI 30 mins before, like eat peganum harmala seeds, and it will be a completely different experience, 8 hours and very natural and closer to shrooms and lsd.

DMT does not pass through the blood-brain barrier when ingested orally (like in the film), so I guess when they mentioned the DMT was "enhanced" that it had an MAOI added to it.

I also noticed the Bela Lugosi soundalike.
