Poser Film

I just saw this and was bored silly. This is the type of film that makes people feel good about themselves because it makes them feel superior that they can appreciate a slow movie with no story. The movie pretends to be smart, though it isn't, and people feel intelligent because they got it. It's called posing. CC is basically a found footage film, set back in the 80s. The style of the film is the best thing. But there's no story. Just a bunch of computer geeks talking computer programming. Computer programming is boring itself, even to programmers, so why would anyone believe that a film about a boring subject, with boring, one-track mind characters be interesting? This really is one of the worst indies I have ever seen, and I wish people would stop pretending this movie entertained them, when there's no entertainment value. Please don't be posers.

LOL. I'm a software developer and I don't find boring to talk about programming.
But I agree with everything else on your review. I didn't like the "philosophical discussions" and I think the adjective 'poser' is well suited here.

I'm not really sure who it was made for, but I'm afraid I'm one of the .0001% of the population actually interested in computer chess, so I found there to be some good 'in' jokes. The compere was supposed to be David Levy, a computer chess organiser who did make the bet mentioned. I read his book when I was 16.

I don't expect other people to find stuff about computers making pointless moves, bugs and inexplicable resignation as amusing as I did though.

I found the whole Pappageorge character funny as well, I knew guys like him around that time and the young programmer guy.

It makes me feel stupid rather than clever to be honest!
