loved this mad crazy melodrama

Oh how I'll miss Gran Hotel. So much happened in each episode that it took my breath away. I even loved the inconsistencies, such as Sofia's baby never grew, or that no one ever seemed to notice Julio never did any work.It was a fabulous show that didn't try to be clever. It was a good old fashioned melodrama with great performances. Adios Gran Hotel

Oh, come now, Julio did some work. :) They even showed him doing some at times where he served people at the restaurant and in their rooms, but most of his scenes were about his off-hours, so we didn't see the work as often as the other stuff, which makes sense. Not that interesting watching someone work although I was always happy to watch Julio doing most anything. :)

Ya......was cracking up at how Sofia's baby never grew, and many other silly things that were implausible.....I just accepted it as being a high class novela, and loved it.

Which brings me to the question of timelines.. at one point Deigo tells Alicia that they have been married one year and 4 months or something like that.. I am not really sure how long it is from the time Julio arrives to the time the two leave together.. if Sofia's baby is any indication, it seems as though the time frame is a few short months from Sofia's "delivery" to the time Alicia is kidnapped.. whereas if you look at the condition of the hotel after the bombing, it seems as though it is several months.. Who knows!!

¿Quién sabe? I try not to worry about any of that stuff since it'll drive me crazy. The baby did grow a little. I was just watching him in an episode about a third of the way through the last season, and he was definitely older, but they never let him walk around, so it was hard to tell. The timeline seemed to be 1905 to 1907. Seemed like it was really only about 18 months in all. I kept thinking it was a hell of a hotel to have so many murders and stuff. LOL I hope it calmed down after the series ended. ::snicker:: Speaking of which, I really loved the last episode. It was so clever and satisfying, especially the very end, I could hardly believe it. ¿Quién sabía que los españoles eran tan brillantes y hábiles? I've since watched some other Spanish series and found them very interesting, too. But nothing beats Gran Hotel. If I could get the DVD set with English subtitles, I certainly would. This wasn't the first time I watched the entire series, and it won't be the last. :)
