Belen

I just can't stand her Enough said.

Well, I think that was the idea. :) One thing about her I noticed was the length of her fingers. Ever noticed that? They're so long it's almost weird. Have you seen the entire series? If not, you'll like the last episode...

Actually, I feel somewhat sorry for her. Sure, she's done some rotten things, but think about how badly everyone's treated her. She loves Diego but he dumps her the second she's pregnant and tells her to abort her child. She does use Andres, but she isn't particularly cruel to him. She even seems to wish him well when she returns after being beaten and fired. Angela is horrid to her from the beginning. Theresa orders her doctor to try to kill her after she gave birth to the first baby. Diego steals her baby when he finds out she had twins. Yes, she swaps her dead child for her living one, but Sophia and Theresa are horrible to her and there's such an unfair class system of rich and poor it's disgusting. When she gets involved in the mine plot, she gets double crossed by her lover, then by Theresa. Let's not forget how nasty everyone else in this series is. Diego and Theresa better get what's coming to them, and Sophia and Angela aren't much higher in my esteem. I definitely think Belen is a bad character, but I can understand why she is so determined to have revenge on a family that has tried to kill her, ruined her and kept her away from her child(ren)... Twice.

Belen is a tragic character for sure and I understood her wanting vengeance against the Alarcons.. but I did not understand her vengefulness against Andres who did nothing really but love her till he found out that she was using him..

Seemed like both Belen and Diego got particularly nasty in the third season, just when I thought they couldn't get any worse. :)

She got really evil toward the end, trying to have Andres executed for a crime that hadn't been committed so that she could inherit. But, really, most of the time, even when she was doing things that were very wrong, I felt bad for her.

The way she was treated when she was in labor infuriated me. I couldn't believe that Diego would try to get the letter from her while she was giving birth to their children! It was torturous. Dona Teresa wanted to leave her to die after she had given birth to the baby who would become, by secret adoption, her very own grandchild! The way both Diego and Dona Teresa behaved toward Belen after that drove me crazy. Diego was horrendous to her, above all when he gave away Juanito, leading to the child's death. And of course, when Juanito died and Belen tried to switch the babies, I understood that Teresa was angry, but her public beating of a grieving mother was unbearable.

Nothing but light! . . . Nothing but light!

i felt bad for her most of the time. even in the end.

she was was really treated like crap, including by angela. in their quarrel i hated angela more than belen and the way she was kicked out of the hotel was sickening. angela, theresa and diego made her evil. i feel like the final plot of executing andres was not in character with her and the turn was lazy writing to make us hate her. cisneros, theresa, and sofia are far worst than she ever was and angela got the daughter in law she deserved.
