I just finished "Grand Hotel" on Netflix and I must say, it is one of the best series I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. What a thrill ride! I already watch "Downton Abbey," which is how I got into this show. "Grand Hotel" was described as "Downton Abbey" on steroids. Haha Does anyone have any other suggestions for other shows that are similar in tone to this? I'm searching for something that is just as addictive as this show, which I feel might be a tad hard to find, but it's worth a shot.

Yes, Grand Hotel is one of the best if not the best series I have ever seen. El Internado is also great and it is on Netflix and Yon Gonzalez is in it.
Also the stars that played Laura and Benjamin from GH are in it too. Give it a try, it is fast paced and keeps you interested and it is addicting too.

Let me recommend Poldark! It's available on Amazon or you can buy the DVDs. What a fabulous show! I've watched it over and over like I did Grand Hotel, and I didn't usually need subtitles, which was a treat. Poldark is fast-paced, exciting, moving, and has a wonderful leading man in Aidan Turner playing Ross Poldark. 😍 (See my avatar.) If you liked Downton Abbey, you'll absolutely love this. Unfortunately, the first series is only 8 episodes, which fly by and are over all too quickly. They're filming the second season as we speak, however, so we do have much more to look forward to. ¡Disfrute!

You might like the Duchess of Duke Street, which is a period drama set in a London hotel. It's loosely based on a true rags-to-riches story.

Thank you for mentioning the Duchess of Duke Street - I purchased the entire series some time ago and didn't watch it yet. I remember seeing it on Masterpiece Theatre and loving it but didn't get a chance to watch it again since Netflix came into my house....
