I can't get past the dark eyebrows. Clearly she is a beautiful woman, but her hair should match her eyebrows a little better. She looks like a "dyed hair woman," to me. I think this would have been a huge no-no for her class.
Understand, I'm not saying that Spanish ladies couldn't be blonde, just that she looks dyed and it is distracting to me.
Only on the first episode. Seems interesting so far.....
I envy you, being at the beginning. I really enjoyed it and am impatiently awaiting S3.
I agree that they should have cast a naturally blonde actress if they'd wanted the character to be fair-haired, or just let Alicia be darker haired, as the actress is. Given that I think the actress is talented, and perfect in the role, I'd go for the latter.
I'm sorry but these have to be some of the silliest posts ever. Actor and actresses get their hair colored, permed, straightened, or highlighted, wear wigs, hair pieces, weaves and extensions all the time. To say that an actress should not be cast because of her natural hair color is absurd.
I must agree. And though I haven't seen the whole series yet, there was a comment about how Alicia looked so much more like her father than her sister Sophía did. So I'm sure that had something to do with their choice of hair color. Her brother Javier is also blond. To think anyone in Spain couldn't be blond when it's right there in Europe, well, people need to understand how Europeans tend to intermarry without much regard to nationality, especially back then when political or other alliances were far more important considerations for a marriage than romantic love especially among the rich. I think she's gorgeous, btw, and has these soulful eyes that are incredibly expressive. She doesn't seem to be wearing any makeup, which makes it all the more remarkable.
I believe the actress has brown hair in real life but I've seen so many actresses that have dyed blond hair and dark eyebrows that I'm used to it.
In Spain, there are many people that have blond/reddish hair and/or blue eyes, depending on their lineage and what part of the country their ancestors are from. The actress has the most amazing eyes and is a good actress to boot(which is not very common in many telenovelas).
The actress playing Belen looks like she's a more natural blond IMHO.
There are only 42 episodes. The second and third seasons were combined somehow so the second seasons is extra long, but if you've seen those 42, I'm afraid you've seen them all. I would love to see it continue, too, but I take it that's not gonna happen. At least, not so far. They sure would have a lot of cleaning up to do after that last episode! Sheesh!
Blonde or not, Alicia is so pretty! I see what you mean with the dark eyebrows but maybe this beautiful actress is like that in normal life. I know a lot of blondes with darker eyebrows and it's not as of they were pitch black... BTW she has gorgeous eyes and a beautiful complexion and she would be naturally blonde she wouldn't look better IMHO.
I think she's very fascinating looking, too, and such a good actress! I just love watching her face when she shows the emotions the roll demands, especially when she's trying to deal with Julio (aw) and Diego (ewww!). 😏
BTW, she turns up for a few episodes in Velvet, and she's pregnant. I heard she had a baby after Grand Hotel, so it would be interesting to know if she were really pregnant or just wearing a bump. I'll probably never know since even with months of study, my Spanish is coming along quite slowly. ::sigh::
She was really pregnant when filming Velvet! I saw an interview with some of the cast from Velvet and they were talking about the scene in which Amaia's character goes into labour. She did it so well that some of the other actors thought she was really going into labour!
Oh wow, thanks so much for sharing that, guerson. She is a very good actor, that's for sure. Amazing how different all the actors from Grand Hotel look compared to their Velvet roles, isn't it? It took me several minutes to figure out who the actress was who'd played Alfredo's mother, she looked so different. Her voice gave her away though. I just wish we'd see them in American films. I'm sure some of them must speak English. Amaia spoke a tiny bit of it in Grand Hotel. Maybe she knows more. The only one I really don't want to see anywhere is the guy who plays Diego. I've only seen the first two episodes of season 3, but he's even worse than he was in the first two. OMG!
Agreed. The first scene at the railway station where he notices her grabbed my attention right away. The only problem with Gran Hotel is how long it took for them to finally get together. OMG. LOL
