What happened to Julio's search for his sister's...?

Season 1 spoiler ahead.

I finished Grand Hotel, and I'm feeling a bit obsessed now. I want to learn Spanish and visit Spain and meet the cast and time travel to the early 1900s...

But I have a question about season 1, even though I just watched it a couple of months ago.

Who does Julio think killed his sister? Alfredo? I got distracted by everything else that happened that I don't remember how that part of the story ended. I know Sofia did it, but Julio doesn't know this. As far as I remember, Julio never finds out who killed her, but he stops his search for the killer and I don't remember why, or if it was ever really addressed.

It's been awhile since I saw it now, but it seems to me her murder was never resolved. I can't remember any dialogue where Julio concludes who killed her. Sofia got away with plenty, didn't she? It's just another example of how if you're in the upper orders, you can get away with many crimes before they do anything about it, and if the victim is of the lower orders, they don't spend much time on solving it. Although, of course, her brother Javier wasn't so lucky, almost getting executed by firing squad. Of course, his crime was probably considered much worse. The military isn't too forgiving of desertion.

That's what I was thinking. Kinda funny: The inciting incident is Julio searching for his missing sister and the lengths to which he'll go for her sake, yet in the end, nothing really comes of it. Oh well, it all ends happily (except for those whom Sofia and others murdered ;-)

As far as Julio is concerned, the murder on his sister is solved. Alfredo did time in prison for it and when he is released Julio is mad as hell that the murderer of his sister is free and lives in the same hotel as he does. For him there was no reason to investigate further as the case was (falsely) closed.
