Why did Mick Taylor let Paul live in the end? Was it because Paul got most of the quiz questions right??

IMHO there are a number of reasons.
He needed a patsy.
He concentrated on female victims, so he had no need to keep the male around.
He did give his word, and he did get a laugh out of it.
