Other modern-day grindhouse flicks.

Apart from the Machete flicks and the Grindhouse movies like Planet Terror and Death Proof, the one that I can think of that I enjoyed even though I can see why some people disliked it was Hobo With A Shotgun. That movie was pretty cool but gory as hell and I can't imagine people with a weak stomach sitting through that.

There is another that I did watch that I wasn't too crazy about and that was Bitch Slap. Has anybody here seen that movie? I know the three leads were gorgeous, but there were some things wrong about that movie. I did enjoy listening to the commentary from the three leads but it still wasn't that good. I don't know why I bought it on Blu-Ray, maybe it was an impulse when I watched before buying the Blu-Ray version.

Any other examples? I am curious about checking out Bounty Killer. It kind of has that look of it, but I could be wrong.

Another example of a modern Grindhouse flick would be "Drive Angry" starring Nicolas Cage. I remember watching it in 3D in theatres since not many theatres were showing it in regular 2D or 35MM print.

I saw the first five minutes of Bitch Slap and it looked terrible. Nothing but horribly-acted 'I'm trying to be cool and tough' acting.

I've never heard of Bounty Killer so thank you for providing something else I can check out.

Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky and Tokyo Gore Police are fun exploitation films. Riki's the best of the two. Also Machine Girl is TGP turns out to be your thing.

One thing that I should add is that I have watched "Bounty Killer" since starting this thread. I recommend you check it out. It's actually a fun movie.

Would you consider Sucker Punch a Grindhouse flick ?

You do know "grindhouse flicks" don't have big budgets, A-list actors and actresses, a complete lack of nudity (because the A-list actresses all have no-nudity clauses), and CGI gore effects? They also don't play in the multiplexes and there really are no inner-city movie theaters (i.e. grindhouses) left.

This isn't really a grindhouse flick any more the "Sin City" is really a film noir. A "modern-day grindhouse" film might be something like "Bad Biology" or "The Human Centipede" or "Black Devil Doll". But even these are more self-conscious homages to grindhouse than real grindhouse.

Yeah, I know what Grindhouse implies. I was actually speaking about movies that try to have a Grindhouse look, without actually BEING Grindhouse quality.
