Because there are actual people who do things like this. We just don't hear about it. Rich people, who are probably sociopaths (odds of successful people being sociopaths are rather high) who find people, usually homeless or loner types, and play sick torture games on them.
Some of them even record and post that stuff on the dark Web.
It's interesting cuz while I was watching and I saw that the doctor had set out for the dinner party, I was hoping he wouldn't cut the dinner/game short cuz it had just started. I thought, man, am I sadistic or smth? I answered myself, nah, there's a big difference in indulging in some film violence/brutality, knowing it's just a movie and that after it wrapped all actors went and had a toast somewhere and actually enjoying how other people get hurt. That being said, there ARE people who do enjoy that so I wouldn't be surprised if stuff like this happened at some degree.

After seeing the first few guys get killed, and the hosts have no remorse or concerns I think it was safe to assume you are going to die either way. I can't imagine contestants continuing to play the game.
People are desperate to survive, but if that game played out like it was portrayed in the movie. I can assure you *beep* wouldn't go down anywhere close to how it happened in the movie.
Tell us how it would go down if you were there. They basically had guns pointed right at the guests. If they tried to move out their chairs they'd die. And they still tried to escape! You make it sound like they just sat there and took it. In fact, 2 characters (drunkie and black guy) did die for NOT playing the game as the Dr demanded they do.
