Unpopular Opinion: I liked this movie.

although this movie didn't reach its highest potential, I found it to be quite enjoyable. it was by no means a 'masterpiece' but it was decent. I'm not sure I understand the amount of hate this movie received. i almost skipped it because of negative reviews, but I'm glad I didn't!

This was a good film. I went into it already knowing some of the real life backstory. Altho I dont care for the mutant aspect of the story I guess there was really no other way to do it.
I do remember seeing the trailer and thinking it had some kind of paranormal aspect going on, and yes I was a little disappointed that it had nothing paranormal going on at all. But its trying to stay based in reality. If you like this film you'll love devil's pass!

Agreed! Judging from the trailer I thought it was going to have a more paranormal aspect which I was really excited about (ghost stories fascinate me, mutant stories less so). Still a decent movie though and the idea of the people being mutated by the radiation was interesting. I did hope for a little more from the movie but it was ok. I don't regret watching it.

'You people. If there isn't a movie about it, it's not worth knowing, is it?'

I think it got swept under the rug because it's too traditional for the 10s. But if it had come out in the middle of the 00s it could have been much more well-received. It's very well done.

I am with you. In a strange way, this film was not only a little chilling but also strangely calming. It had that Misery effect on me. I was comforted and unsettled at the same time.

...didn't reach its highest potential

Yes, yes. The setting intrigued me, though, and the storyline, chock full of young folk who get vanned into the slaughter, wasn't any worse than any other slasher/monster flick.

The beginning reminded me a bit of Cloverfield, as the guys were carousing and talking about photography and an engagement to marry. Then the gang bypasses their initial destination on an unorthodox whim suggested by "a guy I know" (think Hostel). I kept waffling on whether or not Yuri had set the kids up and didn't know just how much I should root for him. I guess we found out.

There were other horror flick plots and subplots adopted for this story, some twists and turns more obvious than others. I didn't mind, though, because the location, camera work and, yes, even actors whose characters are slightly obnoxious, shriek at the wrong time and run pell-mell helped to carry the film and made for creepy fun.

Oh, and the Aussie fellow was about as polite as one can be when holding a gun on an emotional sibling and forced to make the decision to cut, run and stay alive.

Objection, your Honor. You can't preface your second point with first of all.

I also thought this was just another lame, stupid, cliched mockumentary with incredibly idiotic people and horrible shaky cam. So glad it wasn't.
Scary, enthrilling, not gory, with likeable characters, a rising sense of dread and a shocking bad end.

Overall, it was a nice little horror flick, above average compared to modern films of this genre, and thankfully not shot in found footage style.
