angie ?

I don't get it. What happened with Angie ? Last I've seen her she was sleeping all cleaned up on the mattress. Kinda weird ending. Has she decided to remain there and live with Rabbit ? Is that what her sleeping on the mattress implies ?

reply

I'm wondering this myself. I assumed at first that Rabbit could've released her/returned her home, but that's just a theory, there's nothing in the movie's ending that suggests she ever left.

Yes, they screwed us on that but I can't see why, they could have shown her getting dropped off at the hospital or being dead. They didn't give any clue, very true.

When he returns to the house after the confrontation with his father, the credits start rolling but the audio track keeps playing and you hear him make four scissor snips. It sounds like he may have started his own scrap book with Angie being the first entry!

Welcome to Costco, I love you...

Yea I remember the sounds in the credits & I think you're right about the scissor sounds, guess we'll have to ask the director as to what he thought & why he didn't tie that loose end up.

or.... angie has become rabbit and he will start killing men? who knows.....

reply

I'm not entirely sure that Angie lived...and here's why. I know that we saw her on the cot, when you see all the letters spread out over the table, including the one from Rabbit's father. Then you see Rabbit burying Bob, but the camera doesn't focus solely on that grave...it seems to focus on his and the one next to it. After that, you never see Angie again.

But why would he have taken so much time and effort to - stab her without killing her, hide her, try figure out a way to save her in two days (help on the side of the cab), kill Bob, get her cleaned up and im guessing nurse her back to health (because she didnt look too sick when she was asleep on the cot) only to kill and bury her again? I dont think he would have had that drastic a change of heart? I wish they could have just given us a hint - did she stay and live, stay and die, or go?

i'd hate to think so, i can't see him as a killer

I'm seeing a repeating pattern on the matter of Angie living or dying at the end of the film - the fact that you see more than one grave when he's burying Bob. Yeah, I saw that too, but at the beginning of the movie, Rabbit goes into the box of I.D's pulls out his mother's and later you see him put on her grave. When Rabbit was burying Bob, the camera pans out and you see he puts the scrap book on the grave and next to him is another grave with an I.D on it.

Given that Rabbit buried quite a few women down there after his mother, I thought it was kind of symbolic that there was a space right next to his mother's. Like he'd left that open with the hope that one day he'd put him into it.

I got one theorie
And it's based on that Angie actually gets taken home in the same time as Rabbit is going to see his dad, and i base it on that the envelope lies on the table and it looks like she is waking up when the are filming her in the end, so might Rabbit sits on bobs chair and looking at Angie?
but one thing i don't get is how the *beep* did he get to town? Angie must had helped him i think..
Another thing i don't get is what is the sounds on the Audio track supposed to mean..

excuse my English...

If Angie had died from her injuries, there would've been absolutely no point in showing her cleaned up and alive on Rabbit's cot. If she was to die, they might as well have just let that part out and implied that she had died in the crawlspace (when she actually looked like she was fading away)

reply

The director was too stupid to think of a good ending so she used a cheap trick and just didn't explain at all, cheap and easy, and stupid as the rest of the movie.

reply

It's up to you to decide if he lets her go and lives a (relatively) normal life, or if he keeps her and continues the killings.

Just like it's up to you to decide if it's a cop-out to avoid a happy/sad ending or if it's an artistic/clever ending.
