To those asking WHY he did it... (SPOILERS)

I've seen a lot of posts questioning why the dad paid his brother to get rid of his family in the first place, only to get remarried and have another son? His relationship with his wife and son seemed perfectly fine, so wtf?

At the beginning of the film the dad conveys that they're struggling financially (can't even get a puppy). They live in a small house. He drives a junker of a car.

At the end of the film he owns a luxury car (the camera lingers on it as it passes by) and lives in a mansion.

He got rid of his old family so he could marry up and be wealthy -- he wasn't "man enough" to build himself the life he wanted.

In the flashback with the two young brothers, their abusive dad is berating them for earning money after he was laid off -- indicating it had been instilled in Tim/Rabbit's dad that money was a sign of superiority, whereas the other brother's incestual experience lead him down an even darker path.

Neither defending nor denouncing the ending -- simply highlighting that it was clearly thought out to some extent. It makes basic narrative sense and is thematically consistent with the rest of the film.
