Angie + Rabbit

Anyone else find that encounter intensely beautiful, somberly romantic in a way? I was spellbound. I was somewhat frustrated though that the movie didn't really tell us what happened to Angie (and Rabbit), but I guess this is the more sophisticated ending. (The moron in me had hoped for some happy ever after kind of thing).

From what I've read in interviews, the last part of the movie was more the result of editing for time, than an intentional move by the director. She has stated that she had filmed scenes that explained it more, but they were cut. Maybe one day we'll see a director's cut of those scenes. I agree, the ending was VERY ambiguous, and left me with a ton of questions.

I completely agree, the scene after he stabs her was extremely intimate, beautiful even (considering the context)

It was a well-filmed and acted scene... but I couldn't see an abducted girl offering herself to some creepo like that.

Most women distrust men already, especially creppy ones, who have just abducted her. I just didn't think it was likely they could share anything other than utter terror together... but meh... no big deal...

The drunk chick that was laughing and giggling was worse though....

The relationship between Angie and Rabbit is probably the most interesting part of the film yet its given barely any consideration at all. I agree that the scene where she offers herself to him was completely unbelievable. It almost seemed like that exchange was playing out in his mind and thats the way he expected her to behave after being subjected to his captor's views on women for so long.

I agree with that. She picked the one that she thought was too terrified to look at her...

also, I mean. She could see that he was obviously around her age/youngish and maybe figured he'd be more hesitant to actually kill and hurt her than the guy that abducted her and just had a knife to her throat anymore.

Relax. I'm harmless.

That's bs, bro. If I was her, I'd offer to blow both those freaks if it got me out alive. But I'm a guy, so I would have beat the crap out of rabbit because I out-weigh him by at least a hundred lbs, and probably had a nice scrap with bob because he's about as big as me. Haha, I'm only half serious, but now, in full serious mode, I think there's a lot of women who'd agree to cooperate sexually if they were scared enough.

Put yourself in her place. If you thought putting yourself in a mildly uncomfortable situation would help you survive you'd probably do it. She didn't even realize they meant to kill her at that time, and she only offered after she found out how Rabbit had been treated. Putting up a fight would have just prolonged her situation and made it worse.

Not romantic but it was moving.
