Anyone else?

I find this show addicting. But I do sometimes tire of Dot. Its not the actress, it is the way she is written. She has lightened up a little since the show began, but I still wish she would lighten a bit more at times. I have not read the books so maybe she is the same, if not worse, in the books. If she is even in the books. Either way, she is young and in love, yet is so stiff most of the time.

I find it delightful as is. I find that when existing shows are "jiggers" to make them "better" they often lose the simple magic of the original presentation, or worse yet "jump the shark."

Her Catholic upbringing and limited education might have something to do with her personality. I think it is refreshing to see a character NOT shrug off her heavy mantle just because she is now living with and working for a libertine. Phryne is Phryne and Dorothy is Dorothy.

Money and power are still outside of her grasp. She is still a dependent. Until she is well-situated, she has to tread carefully. Miss Fisher's aunt and her society had threatened a few along the way.

I am so glad that you posted these are from books! I'd never know as I don't think they are popular in America but thanks!
