To be honest, I don't think that this episode is as good as the two previous series. The production values are certainly still there, and the costuming and locations are great.

The script just wasn't all together (my opinion) although all the characters are back, thank goodness.

BTW - I don't know whether it's been shown in previous series, but I haven't noticed before Phryne's house number. 221B. Someone has a sense of humour.

Now that we've got the third series, let's just hope the scripts improve.

I thought the characters in the magic show were all pretty lame. Had they been strong and intelligent maybe it would have been better

Glad I'm not the only one who didn't like this episode. I've been waiting a long time for series 3 and the first episode really put me off! The story was dull and I can't believe they opened a long-awaited series with that? I haven't even gone on to watch the remaining episodes, fearing more boredom. Perhaps I'll try episode 2 now...

Try it. Eps 2 and on are definitely back to the original style. Much better.

I've watched S3 here in Melbourne, Australia, where it was filmed. It's available on iView - www.abc.net.au/iview but you'll need a VPN to see it as it is geo-protected.

No idea when it's going to be shown in other markets. S3 has now finished here. Hope there is a S4, but there are also rumours that a movie is potentially in the works as well.

Yes,

Unfortunately the 8th and final episode of S3 was aired in Australia about 3 weeks ago. Such a shame that this was a short series (S1 and S2 were 13 eps each) but there could always be a S4 and if the rumours of a potential movie are true, then the final episode provides a perfect lead in.
