Wonderful Nonsense

Set in the 20's with a loads of stereotypes and cliches abound ! No being clever or smart, just wonderful, easy watching hokum, good for watching on a weekend afternoon.

Almost a live action version of a typical 20's/30's comic strip. Enjoyable nonsense.

Quite right! The character of miss Fisher herself is obnoxious and clichéed, but still somehow fascinating, and the 20's atmosphere is absolutely wonderful. I'm hooked.

reply

Your right, Miss F is too smug for me taste, but I love the 20s crime era!

reply

Perhaps you meant "you're right" or "you are right".

"Your right" means to my right hand side...

reply

Ha! Of course there's a copyeditor among us!

Ironically, In the US, it's spelled copy editor. ;)

reply

Sorry. Not so. Depends on which dictionary, organization title, or title of publication you refer to.

Interestingly (at least, of interest to copyeditors / copy editors), Merriam Webster lists the noun as copy editor but the verb as copyedit. The English language is nothing if not inconsistent!

Worst. Rescue. EVER!

reply

it's like a cartoon version of the 'mrs bradley mysteries' but that makes it no less enjoyable

reply

I loved the Mrs Bradley Mysteries and it's a shame only one series was made. I'm eagerly looking forward to Miss Fisher

reply

I love Mrs. Bradley Mysteries and like you, was disappointed that only one series was produced. Imagine the intrigue if Miss Fisher and Mrs. Bradley teamed us as crime solvers!

reply

I think Mrs Bradley and Miss Fisher would become instant friends. Mrs. Bradely is basically an older, more subdued version of Miss Fisher.

reply

We feel lucky to have been able to see some of this series here in U.S.. Enjoyed it.

reply

Good description.

The production values make it a real treat!

reply

I agree entirely.
The first episode I wasn't too sure about MF's over confidence -
but now I really enjoy her - and the whole cast.
It's charming - and quite touching at times.

reply

I love this series!!! Lots of laughs, some very serious moments, wonderful writing, scripts, direction, and the costumes are exquisite.
