I think it was in episode 1-1 when Dot discovers a little case which contains a "family planning" device according to Miss Fisher. Were those contraceptive devices even legal in Australia in those days?

It would be 'considered' in as much as she would consider 2-3 options of circumventing the Law to acquire and store such materials to avoid having to invoke a 4th and 5th option of talking herself out of the trouble she'd get into if they were discovered in her possession
