MFMM creative team has started another series

The creative team behind Every Cloud Productions/ABC show Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries have started filming a new show called Newton's Law. Like MFMM, it will be shot and take place in Australia. Given that Every Cloud Productions web site STILL has no new info on our favorite gal & our fav series… I'm not holding out any hope for the near future regarding S/4.

Yes, the show has gained world-wide popularity and yes the demand for another series is still very high. But with Deb Cox and Fiona Eagger working on a new show that isn't due to air until next year and is filming NOW, I'd say we could be looking at years (yes, plural) before we see a season 4 and possibly before we even hear about it.

But let us not lose all hope. Remember that S/3 of Sherlock took just over 2 years to make it back to the screen (MF & BC are VERY busy boys!) and given the buzz and popularity of MFMM along with all of the marketing that BOTH ABC & Every Cloud Productions are doing around the show, I still think a fourth series is not an unreachable star. Essie LOVES the character, the fans LOVE the show and both the production company and the broadcasting company are marketing things from the show with a kind of "expect more to be coming" mentality. So while the show may be expensive to produce, it also clearly has a large enough market to cover those costs and, generally speaking, companies are loathe to walk away from the promise of so much ready & waiting cash… Not too mention the fact that John Logan and SHO have NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH ANY OF IT! ………
...just in case any of you were part of the "Great Penny Dreadful Debacle"!     

In the meanwhile, we still have 3 seasons to replay and enjoy and a kiss worthy of waiting years to see the fruit it will bear!  None of which prevents them from opening the show up to NEW markets and new sources of revenue whilst we long-time fans continue to watch, wait and hope that we'll still be alive when (if?) season 4 finally comes meandering back to the small screen. Remember that, by the time it closed out the series, Downton Abbey was in the top 3 programs watched around the world in the history of TV. It was the essence of the proverbial "snowball", it just kept gathering viewers like snowflakes as it rolled down the mountain of popular programming… True story: many of the cast members remarked that there were places their own voices had never even been heard due to voiceovers but that EVERYONE recognized them wherever they went. A testament I believe, given that MFMM is STILL growing it's market, bodes well for MFMM still having a future. Let's face it, money talks and it's clear that both the production company AND the network on which the show airs are still marketing the H E (double hockey sticks) out of a show that still hasn't released a word about their 4th season. I don't think Phryne is going to disappear from the screen given that every time we turn around it's airing in another market in another country on another network. Really well-done period pieces are hard to come by and although MFMM is clearly not the G-rated masterpiece that D. Abbey was, it is STILL the best show to be found in terms of authenticity and charisma. Like DA, it is a show that can be followed and enjoyed by a wide audience who are clearly hungry for more of what MF has to offer So keep your hope alive peeps. It ain't over till ECP & ABC say so and the absence of comment does NOT mean they've cleared it for landing and the show's flight to stardom is over!

Which is EXACTLY what I'm hoping for! That ultimately, they'll all come back to the table for the money and we'll reap all the benefits… no matter how long it may take!  AND… since the end of Downton Abbey was announced, MFMM started taking advantage of that situation by starting to air in markets around the world in order to gain some of the popularity of DA. It worked too! The show does have some really avid fans world-wide. So I'm hoping that will help keep the door open for a return for quite some time to come

Now it's on PBS, I've told a number of people about it and all of them have loved Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries.
