How do the Books compare with the Series?

I've been watching Miss Fisher's series and thoroughly enjoy the visual feast! I'm curious about reading the books, but wonder if I'm too spoiled by first being able to see such splendor, will I still get enjoyment from the books?

I'm a reader, and I certainly like mysteries, such as Sherlock, Nero Wolfe, etc. I'm guessing I'd enjoy it anyway, but I'd like to know how they compare....

The books and TV show are different, for starters in the books Jack is a married man. Saying that the books are very good.
